How to Take Care of Yourself as a Christian Girl

Hey there! Do you ever wonder, what is the point of taking care of yourself? My body is just an earthly thing and will be gone someday. Welp, as we do, we will look into the word today and at two points, 1. What does God say about the body, our health, and 2. Like the title says, why should you take care of your body? 





1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says: " Don't you realize that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and is given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought with a high price. So you Must honor God with your body?


As you can see in this verse, our body is not ours but God's; He has made our body and knitted us together in our mother's womb; that is a gift. Also, it says our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit; what a fantastic thing to think that our body is a TEMPLE of the Holy Spirit. Those two things alone our great reasons to consider, " hey, maybe I should start taking care of this temple of the Holy Spirit." 




Now, does that mean you should start intense weight lifting or running a 5k everyday to start losing a crazy amount of weight? Or suggest you should be on a crazy diet to be "skinny," NO, not at all!! You do not have to do any of those things to start caring for that beautiful body God gave you. Here is a list of things that would give you healthy, fun ways to start taking care of that temple of the Holy Spirit:


  1. Try eating a nice balanced plate ( protein, healthy carbohydrates, and veggies or fruits.) 
  2. Getting your body moving ( walking, stretching, jogging, etc.) 
  3. Grow your mind ( reading, sketching, etc. )
  4. Help your mental health ( hanging out with family and friends, cutting social Media time, joining a Bible study, etc.) 





"A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer to the bones." Proverbs 14:30. 


Having a peaceful heart will lead to a healthy body, which means having a good mental state is just as important as having a good physical condition. So be sure to feed your soul as much as you can with the word of God, pray to Him, and give all your worries to the Lord beaches He cares for you. 


" Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7.



Remember, your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit; God knitted you together in your mother's womb. We need to take care of our bodies because it is a gift from God. He is so good! He loves you so much. 


"Let us draw near with true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water" Hebrews 10:22.
